Death Puss in Boots (voiced by Salma Hayek) has spent his life performing daring deeds and laughing in the face of death, yet has somehow found himself short on lives. After an encounter with an earthen giant and an altercation at a pub with an unscrupulous black-hooded wolf that gashes his forehead, Puss in Boots is warned by The Grim Reaper that his next encounter may be his final one.
Puss, in search of real magic beans to restore his fortunes, teams up with Kitty Softpaws (voiced by Salma Hayek), an expert burglar, swordswoman, dancer and seductress working for Humpty Dumpty. Their initial task: retrieving them from Jack and Jill!
As they travel on their quest, they soon arrive in a town which scorns talking animals and those deemed cursed with cursed blood. Here they encounter Death (voiced by Wagner Moura), a bounty hunter determined to collect from Puss and eventually eliminate him for good.
This film offers plenty of laughter through situational comedy. Additionally, the story touches upon adult themes of drugs, egg genitalia and nudity; however, their cuteness makes any negative impacts lessened by Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws’ overt adorableness. As usual with DreamWorks animation, its superior quality stands out and will delight viewers both young and old alike.
